Distinct from Victron's Orion-Tr DC-DC Converter line, the Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC Charger stands out as a professional-grade adaptive 3-stage charger equipped with built-in Bluetooth functionality. Offered in both isolated and non-isolated variants, each version boasts a diverse array of configurations to suit virtually any installation requirement. With Bluetooth Smart compatibility, users can effortlessly monitor, adjust settings, and install software updates using any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or device. This charger offers full programmability, allowing users to select between a configurable battery charge algorithm or a fixed "power supply" output. It is designed to be "smart" alternator-compatible, featuring an adjustable engine running detection mechanism. The adaptive 3-stage charge algorithm seamlessly transitions between Bulk, Absorption, and Float stages, optimizing battery performance and longevity. For lead acid batteries, the absorption time adjusts based on discharge depth to prevent overcharging, while for LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries, the absorption time is adjustable with a default duration of 2 hours. Additionally, a fixed output voltage option is available for users preferring a "power supply mode." The charger features remote on/off capability, allowing for full control with minimal quiescent draw when not in use. Furthermore, it is short-circuit proof and can be connected in parallel with an unlimited number of units to increase output current. With high-temperature protection and an IP43 rating when installed with terminals facing downward, it is suitable for ambient temperatures up to 40°C (104°F) at full output, with automatic derating to maintain operational efficiency up to a maximum ambient temperature of 55°C (131°F).
