A 2005 72V four seat GEM Car can be retrofitted with a single 72V lithium iron phosphate (LiFe) battery.
Deep Cycle Battery - Powered by Motive Energy was hired by a customer who purchased the battery from Ride-4-Fun online. The installation took 4 hours to remove the six sealed lead acid batteries and install the mounting brackets, battery and state of charge meter.
The video will document the step by step process for the install. The installation will take two people to move the new battery into the compartment because it weighs over 100 lbs. Note the six lead acid batteries combined had a total weight of 360 lbs. The Ride-4-Fun 72V LFP battery is installed under the passenger seat and is inserted from the rear under the trunk.
Both the rear wheel cowl and trunk will have to be removed first.
