A 12 volt heavy equipment 8D battery typically measures 20.75″ in length by 11″ in width by 11″ tall.
It can be a standard, flooded (wet cell) battery that will require distilled water or a maintenance free flooded battery that does not require hydration.
Superior to flooded type heavy equipment batteries are the AGM, maintenance free, spill proof battery. The AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries are commonly called “Gel” batteries by consumers but are not Gel. A true Gel battery is another type of chemistry superior to AGM and more expensive. AGM heavy equipment batteries charge quicker, discharge slower and have less internal resistance. The AGM heavy equipment batteries typically last longer because the plates are supported by the glass mat as well.
